Jeep Safari in Jaisalmer

For more pace and more ground covered, a jeep safari takes you across the desert with a driver at the wheel — climbing and dropping over the dunes, and timed, if you like, for sunset over the sand.

What to expect

A jeep safari is the faster way to see the desert. It reaches further across the sand than a camel ride, and driving up and over the dunes is part of the experience — expect bumps, sudden drops and plenty of laughter.

Who it suits

The ride is exciting but bumpy. It is not recommended if you have back or neck problems or are pregnant — a camel ride is a gentler way to enjoy the dunes. Let us know when you enquire and we'll suggest the right mix.

Jeep and camel together

Jeep and camel safaris complement each other: the jeep for range and adrenaline, the camel for a slower, quieter time on the sand. Our Jaisalmer packages can include both.

Tips for your visit

  • Hold on and keep loose items zipped away when the jeep crosses the dunes.
  • Keep your camera in its bag while moving — fine sand gets everywhere.
  • Sunglasses and a scarf or hat — sand and sun are strong, even late in the day.
  • Sunscreen and water, especially outside the cooler months.
