About Jodhpur

A city beneath a fortress

Founded by Rao Jodha in 1459, Jodhpur grew up below the rock of Mehrangarh Fort. Its old city is known for its blue-washed houses, and its landmarks span five centuries — from the fort itself to a 20th-century palace.
